Thank You for considering becoming a volunteer! The Arc has been supporting and empowering north Texans with intellectual and developmental disabilities since 1951 to help improve their quality of life. Volunteers have given generously of their time and talent to make this possible. Our volunteers share The Arc's personality of being compassionate, respectful, knowledgeable and fun! Since people with IDD are a misunderstood and vulnerable population, we do pre-screen volunteers working directly with our clients. . Adult day-habilitation centers are held year round on weekdays from 8:30 am to 2:30 pm in Plano, Irving, and Garland. Assist professional life coaches and trained aides with projects in the class or out in the community.
The Arc has been offering a fun summer camp experience to children with disabilities from 5 years old to late teens since 2001. Trained camp counselors run the camps weekdays from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., June through August, in Irving.
Office Assistance. The Arc's administrative center can always use clerical help, data entry, tech support and office volunteers weekdays from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Arc headquarters is located at 12700 Hillcrest Road, Suite 200, in Dallas. Let us know on your application if you are interested in light office work.
iLead. The Arc renowned Leadership Institute provides citizenship and advocacy training for older teens and adults, usually one evening a week, year-round in various locations in the metroplex. Class is 90 minutes. Help our advocacy expert teach people with IDD that they do have a voice and how to use it!
